Volume rendering on a light field display

I worked as an intern on crs4 at Polaris science park in Sardinia (link) and wrote my master thesis regarding medical volume rendering on a multi view display system. I developed an raycasting volume rendering application which used several different techniques.I also developed several applications for perception tests for the display to determine its capabillities. My work is part of an article published in The Visual Computer in September 2009
The work included a lot of programming in C++ and Trolltech QT while also required knowledge of human perception.
Below is a video of the display taken with the camera moving from left to right to show the autosterescopic effect.
The images below show the display with a medical volume data set and some of the test scenes which were used for the perception tests.
